My despatch 14th August No. 266 Chief Justice proposes to leave the Colony and of April and retire on 1st September. It is very desirable post should be filled as 300n as possible after his departure owing to the difficulty of making the acting appointment except on very temporary basis. Should be grateful for information as to how the

vacancy will be filled.
